“God gave us families to help us become what he wants us to be.”
Last week my uncle came to visit us here in Guatemala. It was so nice to be able to spend time with all the family, with my grandma, dad, brother, my uncle and my son. This weekend it was a reminder of how important family really is and how easy it is to forget the importance of family.
Writing about family reminded me of a General Conference talk quote, "God gave us families to help us become what he wants us to be." I was pondering about this, because as you know it is not easy when it comes to families. In my case my family all lives far away, the only one I am close to is my big brother and grandma. It is so easy to fall apart and each go their own way. And we forget the beauty of having a family, how we can all help each other, support each other. We are not alone here on this earth, God gave us a family.
I started thinking of how I don't have a good relationship with my little brother, I haven't lived with him ever since I was 18 , that is almost 10 years ago now. I don't know how to get close to him, but I know that my Heavenly Father understands him and me, so If i get closer to Him, study more my scriptures, read talks like this one from General conference I know my heart will grow and I will learn to love every member of family and He will make the way so that I can get closer to my family.
It is almost Christmas, a time to all gather together as a family and celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. So I hope you all can enjoy, and come together as a family.
I am thankful for my uncle's visit to Guatemala and being able to spend time with him and as a family. Thank you!
